In this category of "Imaginative Art", Roberto works to portray the idea that emerged from what first inspired the painting. The inspiration may have been based off of some sort of reality, but it is the emotion that needs to be communicated. For instance, "The Smile and the Veil" (a pastel painting) is about the crystallization of a moment, a thought in time. The pose suggests a slight movement (twist of the shoulder, the floating veil) the head slightly backward, as when a sudden thought makes someone start. Everything frozen and vague, the color, the atmosphere should situate the whole scene out of space/time.
